About Me

Who am I?

My name’s Natalya, and I’m a marketer currently specialising in emails. I love bringing brands to life with compelling copy and creative campaigns.

I’m also a fairly dedicated traveller. You’ll often find me somewhere that’s not home, with several bags full of cameras, notebooks and too many clothes in tow (a dedicated traveller, but never a light one).

What do I do? (The Work Version)

As an email marketer, I bring news, advocacy and awareness campaigns directly to supporters’ inboxes for a charity that’s extremely close to my heart. From snappy subject lines to crystal-clear CTAs, I’m an expert in creating eye-catching, informative and accessible marketing emails.

Before this, I honed my skills working in a variety of more all-round marketing roles, that have seen me take on ecommerce, social media, internal comms, collateral copywriting, events and quite a bit more.

Before those, I studied at the University of Warwick. I obtained a 2:1 in English Literature, valuable experience as a writer and marketer for the student newspaper, and a squad of friends I probably value more highly than both of the above.

What do I do? (The Personal Version)

It all started when I was born in South Wales. Okay, we won’t do the life story here, but I wanted to mention the Welsh thing just because we have, indisputably, the coolest flag. I now live near Leeds with a mortgage, a fiancé, and a gorgeous little black cat called DJ.

It’s a good thing that I like to travel1, because my work and studies have taken me all over the UK. By the age of 25, I’d lived and worked in Wales, Scotland, and the North, South and Midlands of England!

Although I’ve been writing in some form or another for over two decades, it’s taken me years to get round to setting up an Actual Travel Blog.

When I’m not taking trips, taking photos, and taking years to actually write about them, you can find me:

  • Swimming (preferably in the sea, which is admittedly tricky when living in one of the most inland parts of the country)
  • Reading (41 books to get to know me: Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels. All of them.)
  • Cuddling my cat
  • Eating pickled onions (best brand: Garner’s.)
  • Eating pickled gherkins (best brand: you tell me! I’m on a quest to find the perfect pickle.)
  • Doing most of the above while listening to Disneyland Paris soundtracks.2

You’ve made it this far? Here, have some of my travel photos. The aim is to write about all of these places, even the ones I visited a decade ago, so keep your eyes peeled…

  1. This isn’t strictly true. I like to be in lots of different places, but the stress of actually moving between them?! ↩︎

  2. I’m quite passionate about themed entertainment. Specifically the Disney Parks. Even more specifically, Disneyland Paris; it’s a stellar example of Good Theming that I’ve visited at least 20 times.

I’m really trying to dodge the “Disney Adult” allegations, but the first thing I did when I bought my house was decorate my bathroom with a Pirates of the Caribbean ride theme. ↩︎
